Why Hypnotherapy is so Effective at Creating Sustainable Change
When I googled “books about changing habits,” the first article that came up from Four Minute Books stated, “After summarizing over 1000 books, we’ve listed the 21 best habit books of all time for you.”
One Thousand!
Whether they were exaggerating or not, the fact that there are anywhere near 1000 books about habits and how to change them shows just how many people feel stuck when it comes to making lasting change.
Why is that?
Because most people are putting all their effort into making changes using their conscious mind while their subconscious mind is really running the show.
The Power of your Subconscious Mind
The subconscious mind makes up 95% of our mind. It is where our perceptions, beliefs, emotions, and habits reside. It also holds our values, protective reactions, imagination, and intuition; and controls our automatic bodily functions, like breathing and digestion.
If you were to think of the mind like an iceberg, the 5% above water would represent the conscious mind and the remaining 95% underneath the water would be the subconscious mind. Just like that giant (95%) icy mass under the water has a much larger impact on where that iceberg is going, our subconscious mind has a much larger impact on our belief systems and behaviors.
So, when you’re trying to stop yourself from eating ice cream after dinner, you may be all gung-ho about your goal, repeating, “I am fully satisfied and in control,” in your conscious mind, but if your subconscious mind is holding onto a stronger, opposing message, such as, “Ice cream means i’m accomplished,” because ice cream was the reward you received when you got your chores done when you were growing up, guess who’s going to win the majority of the time?
Willpower vs Subconscious Power
It’s time to stop beating yourself up, thinking you just don’t have the willpower.
It’s time to start using your Subconscious Power.
Hypnotherapy is an easy, effective way to connect and directly speak to your subconscious mind, so you can release what is no longer serving you (i.e. eating ice cream every night, breaking out in an anxious sweat any time you have to speak in front of people, procrastinating on putting yourself out there because you’re “not qualified,” etc.). While in a calm, relaxed, hypnotic state, you can throw away those old habits and beliefs and input a new, beneficial idea that is in alignment with your goals.
Imagine having the full support of your whole mind when you decide to make a change.
Imagine just how much easier it would be if, unlike having five members of a 100 person committee agreeing with you, you had all 100.
Imagine how far you could go.
That’s why Hypnotherapy is so effective at creating sustainable change.
